Hyejin Kim specializes in Chinese linguistics, with research interests focused on linguistic typology and pragmatics. She analyzes language use through the lens of information structure and interprets both the particularity and universality of the Chinese language from a typological perspective. Recently, her research has expanded to compare language generated by large language models (LLMs) with human language, aiming to explore how speakers’ linguistic intuitions influence language structure and use.
